If you've ever struggled to find a reliable chocolate brownie recipe that delivers rich, fudgy results every time, this post is for you. After more years than I want to remember of making this recipe I think, I can confidently say it has become my favorite for quick, easy, and reliably delicious brownies. Whether you need a treat for a family event or a simple dessert to curb your chocolate cravings, this recipe will not disappoint.

Ingredients you will Need!
2 ½ cups sugar
1 ¼ cup sifted all-purpose flour
¾ cup sifted cocoa
1 full tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
5 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla essence
200 g (8 oz) unsalted melted butter
1 tblsp vegetable oil
Preparation Method
Using a mixer with paddle, mix sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, salt, eggs and vanilla essence. Slowly add melted buffer and vegetable oil and mix until you have a smooth batter.
Pour batter into a 24cm x 36cm (9 x 13") baking pan which has been greased and lightly dusted with flour. Bake in preheated oven, 180 C, (375 F) for 25 - 30 minutes. Take out of oven and let cool before cuffing into squares.
Optional - Chocolate topping
200 g (8 oz) semisweet dark chocolate
3 tblsp strong coffee
1 tblsp vegetable oil
In small saucepan, melt chocolate in coffee over low heat, stirring continuously. Add vegetable oil and mix.
Pour chocolate mixture over warm cake and using a small spatula spread evenly over top. Let cool completely before cuffing cake into squares.
The chocolate topping makes these brownies especially rich but oh so good for a special occasion. Without the topping the brownies are great with strawberries and vanilla ice-cream or whipped cream.
Yield: 16 servings

Tips
*l Cup =2 dl
Use high-quality cocoa powder for a deep chocolate flavor.
Melt butter gently to avoid burning, which can affect taste.
If you like your brownies make sure not to overbake them as brownies continue to cook slightly after removal from the oven.
Let brownies cool fully before slicing to get clean edges.
Customize by adding a sprinkle of sea salt on top before baking for a sweet-salty contrast.
I like to serve cakey brownies with whipped cream and sliced strawberries as per photo above!

This chocolate brownie recipe has stood the test of time because it is simple, forgiving, and delicious. It works well for beginners and experienced bakers alike. Next time you want a chocolate treat that never fails, give this recipe a try. You might find it becomes your favorite too.
Should you have some brownies left over and want to make another scrumptious ultra rich chocolaty dessert, then I suggest you make my Chocolaty Chocolate Mousse and layer it in glasses with small, diced brownie pieces and top with whipped sweetened cream and grated or swirled chocolate. For those strawberries, you can also add those (sliced or diced) to this dessert (in layers) or instead of cream!
